Vision the Fourth. That which I saw, brethren, twenty days after the former vision, was a type of the great tribulation that is coming.
I was going to a country road, and from the main road it is about ten furlongs. The place is easily reached. As I walked alone, I entreated the Lord that He would confirm the revelations which He had shown me.
Then I beheld a great beast, like a leviathan, and fiery locusts were issuing from its mouth. And the beast was about a hundred feet in length, and its head was like a piece of pottery.
And I began to weep and to entreat the Lord that He would rescue me from it. And I recalled the word which I had heard: Doubt not, Hermas.
Having therefore put on the faith of the Lord and having remembered the great things He had taught me, I took courage and faced the beast. And as the beast came on with a rush it was as though it could destroy a city.
I came near it, and the leviathan for all its size stretched itself on the ground, and merely put forth its tongue, and did not stir at all until I had passed it by.
